This is much the same as 'Drumdelgie' in all aspects of its background. It has become very popular with the recent revival of interest in our folk tradition. There are many versions to be found, some of much greater length. The above version contains the main elements of the story and is not so protracted. In the bothy ballads there is a complete record, and comment on, the hard relentless life of the farming community, especially in the middle and the latter half of the last century.
